Children enjoy playing on The Park

The Park

The Park is a classic village green: the centre of the village, next to the church, a children's playground, seats to enjoy the view, a spreading chestnut tree and the village smithy.

Just to confuse you, The Green is actually the road that runs to The Park.

In 1956, the Duke of Rutland gave the Park to the village under the care of 4 Trustees. Previously it was an orchard associated with the nearby vicarage. The Trustees of the Park in 1997 allowed the Hose Playsafe Group to build modern swings and a climbing frame to replace the ageing (& dangerous) swing-boat, and to replace concrete with rubber safety surfaces. The playground equipment is now maintained by the Parish Council.

Currently the Trustees of the Park are Stuart Spence, Jim Fisher & David Isam.
